E-mail for marketing


E-mail marketing is used for direct marketing which using e-mail as means of communicating commercial or sending a message to an audience. In its broadest sense, every e-mail sent to a potential or current customer could be considered e-mail marketing. However, the term is usually used to refer to:

  • sending e-mails with the purpose of enhancing the relationship of a merchant with its current or previous customers and to encourage loyal customers
  • sending e-mails with the purpose of acquiring new customers or convincing current customers to purchase something immediately
  • adding advertisements to e-mail
Advantages :
  • A mailing list provides the ability to distribute information to a wide range of specific, potential customers at a relatively low cost.
  • Compared to other media, e-mail is less expensive
  • Delivery time is short
  • An advertiser is able to 'push' the message to the audience
  • E-mail messages are easy to track
Disadvantages :
Spam is main problem at e-mail marketing.
